GO AHEAD, TAP THAT CLASS

I have stated this before, but let me restate it. My mom needs a hobby that does not include dressing me up in clothes, costumes, or accessories. In the meantime, however, I am still one of her favorite hobbies.

Mom always thinks that I need to dress to align with the event or holiday, so my wardrobe continues to grow and has officially taken over a dresser drawer.

I am taking BEING BOUJEE to a new level and sharing my take on the costumes I wear throughout the year. Here we go!

I love visiting Santa as I always have a long list of stuff I want from him. Mom tries to tell me during the year that Santa is watching me when I am naughty, so I thought if I dressed in a costume when I visit him, he may not recognize me as easily.

This year, I tried two different costumes: An elf and a reindeer. Here are my thoughts on each of them:

Elf: The elf costume was easy to put on, but since it is only for front photos, I wasn’t a massive fan of it. Had it been a full-body costume, I would have enjoyed it more.

Reindeer: This reindeer costume is my favorite Christmas costume! Mom said it looked like onesie pajamas on me and was so comfortable. Well, it wasn’t completely comfortable as my mom originally ordered a medium size, and putting the hood up gave me a massive wedgie. The photo below shows me wearing the medium size, but Mom ordered the large size for my picture with Santa. If you want to be part of Santa’s reindeer team this year, I highly suggest you size up. Save yourself the wedgie!

On the Rudy Rating Scale (RRS), I would give the reindeer costume four paws (because that is the max I can give). It is easy to put on and comfortable to wear. You might find me wearing it to bed on cold nights in Colorado to stay warm.

I only give it one paw for the elf costume on the Rudy Rating Scale (RRS). I needed help understanding the costume. You could only tell I was an elf from the front, and the hat, while I wore it, wasn’t something I would wear for long periods.

Our family are not huge Halloween people. Yep, we are that house that leaves their lights off – which makes it challenging for me to go to the bathroom outside that night –  but since it is a holiday, mom had to buy me a costume. I hoped to be something fun like a ghost, a UPS man (I love the UPS man that comes to our door almost daily), or a BOUJEE king – oh wait, I am already a BOUJEE king daily!

I didn’t understand my costume this year – I was a former President or a Cheeto. Like I said, I didn’t get it, but my mom laughed and laughed when I put on the costume.

The costume was simple. A wig and a shirt collar with a tie. It was easy to put on but challenging to see through the wig. This costume might be helpful in a few years, so you might see me sporting it again. Stay tuned!

I would give the costume three paws on the Rudy Rating Scale (RRS) because I did not understand it. It may be the easiest costume I will ever wear as it only includes a wig and a collar with a tie, but I thought I could have worn something more fun or unique. Hopefully, next year, I get more say in what I get to be for Halloween.

For many of you, your furry child is one of your greatest loves in life, so Valentine’s Day is a MUST to be celebrated with them…and of course, the holiday requires I dress in appropriate attire. I hear my mom is on the hunt for a Cupid outfit, but in the meantime, she put a headband, angel wings, and a collar on me to be festive, and here is my take on all of it.

Wings: The wings are delicate. There are two Velcro adjustable straps for the wings. One should go around my midsection and the other around my neck. That may not be right because the strap around my mid-section was too small, even for me!  Granted, I put this on shortly after our Christmas celebration so I could blame the advent calendar my human mom bought me this year or my annual winter weight. Ha! Once the wings were on, they were very lightweight and didn’t bother me.

Headband and collar: It may surprise you, but I didn’t mind wearing either of these items. The headband has an adjustable cord under my chin, which can adjust to various dog head sizes. If I were to start running, it wouldn’t stay on very well. The collar was no bother to me at all. It is more prominent in size, so my human mom had to double it up so it would fit my neck. It could even be worn like a hula skirt on some dogs.

This pretty simple costume didn’t hinder my ability to get into trouble, so I recommend it. Four paws way up in the air on the Rudy Rating Scale (RRS) for this Valentine’s ensemble. Show your love to your fury baby and buy it today

IRISH you a Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I don’t think I have any Irish blood in me, but I (meaning my mom) am the first to dress me in a costume for a holiday – even if we don’t have anywhere to go to celebrate.

Thankfully, my mom picked out two options that I liked! I am a little guy (tipping the scales at 13 lbs on my non-fat feeling days), so the bandana fits me like a dress as it is long in the font. A bandana is probably one of the more comfortable wardrobe items my mom has selected for me, so I can’t complain about this one. The headband, on the other hand, is a different story.

Who thought putting headbands on a dog’s head was a good idea? I want to speak with that person and give them a piece of my mind. I appease my mom briefly so she can take the pics for my contribution to The Bark Buzz, but I immediately scratch them off my head. Mom has learned how to be quick with the picture-taking part.

The second outfit is for a more formal St. Patrick’s Day celebration, including a green vest, white tuxedo shirt, and a sparkly green bow tie (all connected for easy on/off). This one looks adorable from the front, but it is only a faux tuxedo outfit, so my backside is naked (and drafty at times). The tuxedo doesn’t come with the headband, but mom thought it was a fun addition to the look, so she used the one from the bandana outfit.

Even I am surprised by how relaxed and almost “cool” my mom was with the St. Paddy’s Day costume selection this year.

I like both options she selected, but I think the “One Lucky Pup” bandana is my favorite. It is comfortable to wear and doubles as my napkin when I scarf down my food each morning.

I can confidently give each of these outfits four paws way up in the air on the RRS (Rudy’s Rating Scale). Make sure your fur baby feels lucky on one of the luckiest days of the year!
