One day, my Godson commented about wanting a Gucci shirt or shoes for his upcoming birthday. You would think this request came from a teenager or young adult, but no. He was turning either 7 or 8 years old! BOUJEE! I had just thought about Gucci when he commented. What did this seven year old know that I didn’t know? I thought I better up my game and started looking at the Gucci brand with a new lens….and while I love to spoil my Godson, I did not buy him a Gucci shirt or shoes for his birthday.
Gucci (/ˈɡuːtʃi/, GOO-chee) Brand History: Gucci first launched in 1921, and the Italian luxury fashion house quickly became known for its fine leather craftsmanship and accessories. The brand’s contemporary designs include shoes, clothing, and accessories—often boasting the distinctive Horsebit motif.
I decided to try Gucci sneakers one day, so I ordered a few different pairs from Sak’s Fifth Avenue. I wasn’t committed to keeping them when they arrived. Instead, I wanted to see all the hype – again, the hype from a 7-year-old boy.
I ordered white shoes with the Gucci brand colors on the side and the Horsebit style with the colors on the side. Both shoes had a similar look, but I liked the more branded Gucci look of the Horsebit sneakers.
What is the sizing for Gucci sneakers? Gucci sneakers are made in Italian sizing, which can be confusing. Here is an example of the sizing:
IT 36 = US 6
IT 38 = US 8
IT 39.5 = US 9.5
IT 40 = US 10
Gucci sneakers are sold in half sizes. Therefore, you can get the size that fits you best – unlike Golden Goose sneakers, which are only sold in whole sizes.
Are the shoes comfortable? If you are looking for a pair of highly comfortable sneakers to wear while doing a lot of walking, I wouldn’t select these sneakers. The sneakers are cute and scream the Gucci brand, but I don’t believe they are designed to be walking sneakers. They are intended to be casual shoes, which is how I wear them. Specifically, I think the horse bit pattern is unique and can be worn with various clothing styles. I have worn them with a navy blue casual dress, and I have worn them with jeans.
Are they worth the money? This specific pair of Gucci sneakers sells for $690. It is steep from my perspective. However, if you buy them once, you will have them for the rest of your life. I am happy with my purchase, but I would not have bought them for my Godson, whose feet are still growing monthly.
How to order: These shoes may not be my favorite sneakers. However, I like wearing them in my closet every so often. They are not everyday sneakers for me, but they could be for someone else. You should try them yourself! You can go ahead and order the sneakers here.
