My love for Louis Vuitton started at least ten years ago and truthfully, I’m not sure HOW it started. Obviously it must have been by influence – by seeing others with it and wanting to BE BOUJEE like them.
I started with what I believe is the traditional “starter” Louis Vuitton bag, the Neverfull GM which retails for $1,760 USD.
I believe this is one of the most cost effective bags to purchase as you enter the world of Louis Vuitton. I used this bag as my work bag and my carry on bag when flying. Since the bag can be used for a variety of purposes, I think that is what makes it a great Louis Vuitton starter bag.
I say a starter bag because I don’t use it anymore. Why? I found the straps to be too narrow and dug into my shoulders when walking far distances – for example, from one airport terminal to another. In addition, it doesn’t have a zipper to close it so when I shoved it under the airplane seat in front of me, I was always afraid something was going to fall out of it.
TIP: When traveling abroad, check out the currency exchange rate to determine if purchasing a BOUJEE item while abroad is worth it or not. This bag was purchased at the London Heathrow airport and I saved a few hundred dollars by purchasing it at the London Heathrow airport. How? The exchange rate at the time favored the USD and in addition, since the Louis Vuitton store at the airport is duty-free, I didn’t have to pay any sales tax. If you decide to purchase an item at a store in the city, you have the opportunity to request a refund of the sales tax, but you have to pay for it up front and a refund will be sent to you. By buying at the airport, you don’t have it pay the sales tax at all, which is why I prefer to buy at the airport. Less hassle!
While we were flying out of a different terminal (Louis Vuitton is located in Terminal 5), you can request a personal shopper to move between terminals OR you can pay for the item in advance and the personal shopper will bring it to you at your terminal. This is a free service and we highly suggest it! Learn more about it here. Please note these options do require you to reserve a few days in advance and have at least three hours available if you want to travel between terminals.
So, what bag is my favorite Louis Vuitton work and travel carry-on bag now? The All-In MM bag is my favorite for many reasons and a MUST BUY for any BOUJEE fan looking for a stylish and functional work and/or personal item/carry-on bag. Yes, this bag has been my personal item when flying and the Louis Vuitton duffle bag counts as my carry-on bag.
The All-In MM bag has wider straps and a zipper. Enough said? No? Well it is a large and in charge bag and I am a huge fan of large bags. It is 19.7 x 14.2 x 8.3 inches (length x height x width) and has one zipper pocket inside and a couple zipper free pockets inside. The zipper-free pockets are great for finding things easier in this big bag.
While this bag is large, it still easily fits under an airplane seat and with the zipper top you don’t have to worry about anything falling out of it.
The wider straps make this bag easier and more comfortable to carry. Plus the bag sits nicely on top of a rolling suitcase and you can put the bag straps around the suitcase handle for easy transport.
My next travel must-have bag is the duffle bag, officially called the Keepall Bandoulière. The Keepall Bandoulière is available in four sizes: 45, 50, 55, and 60.
As stated previously, I am a huge fan of big bags because let’s be honest – when in life have you ever said to yourself, “Oh darn it! This bag is just too big for my trip and I am not packing enough to fill it.” NEVER! Go big or stay home would be our motto.
The Keepall Bandoulière 45 is 17.7 x 10.6 x 7.9 inches (length x height x width) and retails for $2,230 USD. This bag is available in the Monogram Canvas, the Damier Graphite Canvas, the Monogram Macassar, and the Monogram Eclipse.
The Keepall Bandoulière 50 is 19.7 x 11.4 x 7.7 inches (length x height x width) and retails for $2,300 USD. This bag is available in the Monogram Canvas and often there is a summer edition of a special color released.
The Keepall Bandoulière 55 is 21.7 x 12.2 x 9.4 inches (length x height x width) and retails for $2,360.00 USD. This bag is available in six different materials: Monogram Canvas, Damier Cobalt Canvas, Damier Graphite Canvas, Damier Ebene, Monogram Macassar, and Monogram Eclipse.
The Keepall Bandoulière 60 is 23.6 x 13 x 10.2 inches (length x height x width) and reails for $2,430.00 USD. This bag is only available in the Monogram Canvas material.
The Fèlicie Pochette is a must have for your Louis Vuitton collection as it functions as a wallet and a purse. Yes, dual function so it is easier to justify the purchase, right?
The Fèlicie Pochette is 8.3 x 4.7 x 1.2 inches (length x height x width) and currently available in a variety of materials including the EPI Leather, Monogram Vernis Leather, Damier Azur, Damier Ebene, Monogram Empreinte Leather, Bicolor Monogram Empreinte Leather, and of course the Monogram Canvas.
Included in the Fèlicie Pochette are two removeable pockets, including one with eight card slots (not shown in the picture) and a zippered coin purse. In addition to the removeable pockets, there is also a removeable 20.9 inch gold-tone chain (not shown in the picture) which allow you to wear it as a shoulder purse.
This has been a great purse to bring to sporting events that don’t allow purses because I can fit my iPhone Pro Max in it as well as my ID, lipstick, credit card, and cash.
I highly recommend the Fèlicie Pochette because of its dual functionality, as well as for the fact it is a classic and will never go out of style. I literally just easily take it out of one bag and move it into another. ♥ I love it! ♥
So, what bag is my favorite everyday running errands purse? Unfortunately it is one that Louis Vuitton has retired! It is the Melie shoulder bag in the Monogram Canvas. It is 11.75 x 13 x 5 inches (length x height x width) and includes both a shorter shoulder strap and a longer crossbody strap. At the time of purchase, this bag retailed for $2,350.00 USD.
This bag is perfect for most casual occasions and truly makes a wonderful everyday bag. It does have an open top (no zipper or top closure) but I haven’t found that to be an issue. There are two external pockets with zippers that I have never used but adds a little more visual interest to the exterior of the bag.
The inside of the bag has a couple built in pockets of various sizes, but no zipper pocket. I find the inside of the bag to be large and holds a lot of stuff in order to keep you hands-free while shopping, which I love. I am a huge fan of crossbody purses for everyday use as I find them to be the most convenient and I don’t have to walk away from my purse in a cart at the grocery store.
Even though this bag is no longer sold at the Louis Vuitton stores, I still highly recommend it for casual use. Maybe you can find an already loved one to add to your collection by searching tradsey or another second hand site. Good luck on your search!
My very first Louis Vuitton was the Turenne GM Tote in Monogram Canvas. It is 16.75 x 6 x 10 (length x width x height) and unfortunately, it is no longer sold by Louis Vuitton.
The purse has both the handles as well as a longer strap that can be worn over the shoulder. I found the strap to be too short to be worn as a crossbody strap.
I love to use this bag for occasions that are casual and slightly more than casual. It is a very cute purse that easily holds my wallet, lipstick, phone, and a few other necessary items.
