Living in Minnesota for much of my life has resulted in a dislike (and I could use a stronger adjective) of cold weather. When winter in Minnesota hits, the sun becomes non-existent for months, and my bones are cold, unable to ever warm up until summer arrives again. I used to tell my friends I was solar-powered and needed the sun of a beach destination to recharge my batteries. There is a little (or a lot) of truth to that statement.
With the need for sun very real, I have had the opportunity to travel to many tropical beach locations with Mexico being one of the most frequently traveled destinations. Why Mexico? It is convenient, cost effective, easy to communicate in the country, and beautiful, aqua blue waters to stare at for hours.
I tend to stay at all-inclusive resorts so this packing list will be geared towards all-inclusive resorts.
Here are a few technology staples I would recommend for any trip:
TECHNOLOGY: Our world revolves around technology. Therefore, it is essential to have what you need accessible in another country.
BEACH/POOL: When at a beach destination, I spend most of my time at the beach or pool, so being comfortable at both is important. These are a few of my favorite pool/beach items:
SWIMSUITS: From my perspective, this is the worst thing to buy for a beach vacation. I don’t spend a lot of money on swimsuits as I think their style changes from year to year, so I feel like I am buying a few new suits every year.
I usually go with black bottoms and some busy pattern tops. I have probably reached the age where I shouldn’t wear a bikini anymore. However, I am tall (5’11), so finding a one-piece swimsuit to fit appropriately is even more challenging.
Here are the suits I often take:
CASUAL/EVENING DRESS ATTIRE: Easy to pack dresses are the best option for a simple dinner out in Mexico.
Miscellaneous is a large category and includes all the random stuff you may have never heard about or thought about, yet we highly suggest!
