Have you seen the inflatable SaluSpa hot tub at Costco, for example, and wondered if it was worth it? Well, while it may not be BOUJEE, we decided to give it a try this year.
The SaluSpa Laguna AirJet Inflatable Hot Tub measures approximately 71″ x 26″. While it says it can fit four, we were surprised it would serve four people comfortably. We suggest two adults and two kids enjoy the spa at one time – and even that might be a stretch for space.
The spa has 120 air jets that are on the floor of the hot tub. The jets are soothing and provide a remarkable level of massaging for being an inflatable tub.
The SaluSpa Laguna AirJet Inflatable Hot Tub holds approximately 177 gallons of water, which took about an hour to fill from our garden hose. The hot tub heats to 104 degrees and has an easy-to-access digital control panel.
Right behind the control panel (which is adjustable – up and down) are two built-in beverage holders. The holders could be more useful as they are challenging to access in the hot tub. Want to bring an adult beverage in the hot tub with you? We think we should just hold it.
We will be the first to admit the hot tub doesn’t keep the temperature at 104 degrees for a long time, and the length depends on whether you run the jets. If you run the jets for 30-40 minutes, the temperature will drop to about 100 degrees. That is still hot but can be a noticeable decline for some.
HEATING TIP: This tip may look odd to your neighbors, but we have found it to keep the water hotter a little longer. The minute we jumped in, we placed a blue solar pool cover over the outer ring of the hot tub. This will help keep the heat and the temperature closer to 100-102 degrees for extended periods.
Do you think this is a perfect solution? No. You have to put a little effort in to keep the cover over the jet bubbles so it doesn’t sink, but it is a solution we have come up with thus far. We are still thinking of creative solutions and will let you know if we develop something better. If you have a suggestion, let us know!
UPDATE: The following suggestion is even better than the one above! We utilized this round cover over the tub while we were in it, and the hot air from the tub made it become a dome. It is challenging to describe, but it is the best option!

♥ FreezeShield, which protects the liner and pump.
♥ Combination air quickly inflates the spa, runs filtration, and controls the massage system.
♥ A standard 120-volt outlet is used (not a 220-volt outlet).
While we are kid-free here at BEING BOUJEE, we know safety is essential for many of you. The spa has built-in latches that connect the spa cover to the base of the spa, and they are CHALLENGING to unclip as an adult, so it is safe around small children.
Oh, did we mention that putting this together requires NO TOOLS? Just one adult put ours together quickly, so it is a manageable undertaking!
COST TO PURCHASE: If you buy the spa at a Costco location, it sells for $350. If you want to purchase it online at Costo.com, it sells for $500.
COST TO RUN: We noticed a $50 increase in our electricity bill, and we keep the spa constantly heated to 104 degrees. Want to keep it more relaxed? Just know it takes about an hour for the spa to heat up by two degrees.
We have yet to make an excellent recommendation for chemicals as we are still figuring it out ourselves, as the spa came with ZERO instructions regarding chemicals. We suggest using test strips weekly to see what chemicals must be added.
What other items do we suggest for your new spa?
♥ Even in Colorado, it can be cold, so putting your towel on the ground is not a good idea. Therefore, we suggest this great outdoor towel rack. It is heavy-duty and endures the outdoor elements well.
♥ A hot tub mat provides a barrier between the cold ground and the bottom of the spa. While we haven’t experienced the spa without the mat, we think it does a fantastic job of helping keep the spa warm.
♥ The oil-absorbing scrum sponges are a MUST to help keep your spa clean. We throw one in the hot tub each week, and by the end of the week, it has turned brown, and we toss it and replace it with a new one. The spa has been running for almost two months, and the water still looks crystal clear!
